Painting Brake Calipers

Yellow Painted Brake Calipers

I had some free time on my hands and was at a Pepboy's store and just browsing the store and saw some Brake Caliper paint. Looked neat and I have seen it on other cars, and decided what the hell, why not try it. So here are the instructions and pictures of how to paint the calipers and how it looks when it is done.

Once you get the wheel off, FIRST clean the caliper with BRAKE PARTS CLEANER, which is available at any auto store. Then you need to mask off parts of the rotor and other things you don't want painted. Make sure to mask good otherwise it will get sprayed.

Once you got it masked, start spraying the caliper at about 8-10" away with VERY light coats. The key is LIGHT coats, don't want any dripping. Be patient!!!

Next remove all the Masking carefully after the paint has dried. Most of the caliper paints are dry to the touch after 5mins.

Once it is removed, put the wheel back on CAREFULLY not to hit the caliper. Do not drive the car for about 1hr until the paint has cured. Here is what it looks like when it is done.

Here is a side shot of the car, you can see the yellow calipers very faintly. I did not want it to stand out TOO much anyways.
